[Mimedefang] Looks like its not running SpamAssassin, why?

With minor edits to mimedefang-filter - including putting an
"action_change_header("X-Spam-Score..." line after the spam_assassin_check
line and before the "if ($hits >= $req)" line - so every e-mail going
through should have that line if it recognizes that SA is installed - and
everything installed per the HOWTO - nada.

This is on a system that is current Gentoo, except for Sendmail,
SpamAssassin and MIMEDefang, all installed manually. SpamAssassin and
Sendmail are working just fine on their own. Where should I look for
MIMEDefang's problem?
