[Mimedefang] ERR Filter timed out

I'm testing a new server and I'm only testing out going mail. 
Sendmail 8.12.5 MIMEdefang 2.16 Interscan Virus scanner and the updated
MIME::Tools patch.

And I'm getting the following errors

Aug  2 12:58:22 synit-web-01 mimedefang[6844]: Error from multiplexor: ERR
Filter timed out - check filter rules or system load

Aug  2 12:57:50 synit-web-01 sendmail[6841]: g722voFB006841:

file

Aug  2 12:55:46 synit-web-01 mimedefang.pl[6745]: g722tdge006795 streamed by

error: Error talking to slave process

Aug  2 12:54:44 synit-web-01 mimedefang[6763]: Error from multiplexor:
error: g722qjge006714: Can't open NEWBODY: No such file or directory

Aug  2 12:52:50 synit-web-01 mimedefang.pl[6647]: Could not create
NOTIFICATION file: No such file or directory


>From previous posts I see David has said to start mimedefang with -f I'm
just not sure how to go about this.

Any help would be great.
