[Mimedefang] mimedefang and antivir (hbedv)

hello list,

using mimedefang with hbedv antivir and the filter from the howto 
example pages worked fine for me until yesterday some strange thing 
happened. the antivir failed during automatically updateing its 
signatures and did a fallback to the old signatures. not a big thing, i 
had that before and did not run into any problem.

but now at the same time the antivir update failed the mimedefang 
started producing lots of messages (in count about 10000 until i 
noticed something was wrong...) like the following:

all messages had the sender defang at my.host.name and went to 
postmaster at my.host.name. i never had any message produced by 
mimedefang/defang before and i have no idea on howto get to the root of 
the problem. my logfiles do not say anything about an filter error or 
similar problems.
anybody maybe have an idea what was wrong here ? what conditions will 
trigger imedefang to produce an email sent from the defang user ?
