[Mimedefang] tcp socket

Hello,

I am running a FC3 server with Mimedefang 2.52.

I am trying to run mimedefang on another machine and have sendmail
communicate with mimedefang over tcp socket. My mimedefang install is from a
self-made rpm so I have /etc/sysconfig/mimedefang

In /etc/sysconfig/mimedefang , I have added

MD_EXTRA="-p inet:1000"

but when I restart mimedefang and do "telnet localhost 1000" just to see if
md is listening, I get "connection refused" and
/var/spool/MIMEDefang/mimedefang.sock is in place.

How should I configure /etc/sysconfig/mimedefang to get md listen form a
port and what kind of a INPUT_MAIL_FILTER line I should add to sendmail.mc
to have it pass milter commands to an ip and a port?
