Having been on both sides of disappearing mail, I hate mail being 
discarded.  That's why the rejection at the SMTP level is so nice.

Yep, I reject, they generate bounce.  I look at it as refusing to accept 
responsibility for the message if I think it's spam.  If it's actually 
ham, but triggers a false positive, then all is well - it goes back to a 
legit sender.  If it's bulk, the sender can deal with it or whatever.

I agree, a pass is not reason to reduce the overall score on an unknown 
domain.  I will subtract 1 point for known domains, such as local ISPs. 
Failling messages when the domain owner has "-all" on their record is 
valid, and has only generated one call for me and I just told them that 
the sender needs to configure their mail client correctly.
