Here's one more variation -- just add this near the top of
mimedefang-filter.  Solves the uvscan hanging completely and survives
mimedefang upgrades:

$Features{'Virus:NAI'} = 'LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.4.1 /usr/local/bin/uvscan';
