David,

Thanks a lot for your init-script.  I have copied it to
/etc/rc.d/init.d/mimedefang and tried to start and stop the
mimedefang daemons on my RedHat 8.0 server.  And it works !!
No more daemon processes left behind !

It would be really great if you could make your script the
default one.  Also, I think the redhat/README file, which I
posted to the list, would be appropriate for telling people
how to deal with the RedHat runlevel configuration.
At least, it took me a while to figure out how to add the
mimedefang service correctly :-)
