[Mimedefang] Found the SA modules - doesn't look like it's the perms

Okay, the SpamAssassin modules ended up in 

/usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.8.0/Mail/SpamAssassin - and it doesn't look
like a perms problem since that directory and all contents have the same
read and execute perms straight across for root, group and world.
Everything's world-readable in /usr/share/spamassassin too (the .cf files).

So back to my original question: why isn't MIMEDefang running SpamAssassin?
What to look at next? SpamAssassin itself runs just fine.
