mimedefang.pl -f /etc/mail/mimedefang-filter -test

AFAIK you cannot tell sendmail to bypass the filter.
You can only choose between R (reject conn if filter unavailable), or T
(temp fail conn if filter unavailable) which is that suggested by MD
documentation.
