[Mimedefang] problems upgrading from mimedefang 1.5

I used the filter provided with the system 
"suggested-minimum-filter-for-windows-clients"  and i made sure there were no
virus handling functions in that filter. 

The "milter_read(mimedefang): read returned 0, expecting 5" message is what im
particulaly intrested in the other message was because of a permission problem
on the mimedefang spool, after i fixed that all i could get were defang
processes that just kept running and  my error logs filled with the above
message.
