[Mimedefang] Still timeout errors - mail rejected

There have been some mention of not only adjusting timeouts, but also
letting overly large (>500k) messages pass the filters unchecked. The large
amount of text in documents of that size might just take a much longer
amount of time when compared with other emails. (Plus, spam tends to be
<20k, otherwise, it would take the spammer too long to send each message.

And yes, from what I've seen SA needs another patch or two, but they are
getting there. My problem is just keeping the rules updated fast enough.

Also, check the mailing list archives (we need to get them to install
hitDig or something. :).. a number of folks, myself included, have hit
similar problems.

The Anomy perl warning messages can safely be ignored. They are just
warnings, and nothing more than that. If anything, they are annoying
and make the sendmail logs huge over time.

Mail::SpamAssassin 2.x seems to have some rather painful problems. I
was experiencing a base64 error and a subsequent timeout when I had
SpamAssassin 2.01 installed and configured. The client was simply
sending a 700k MS word doc which contained pictures and text. I removed
the call to spam assassin from the mimedefang config, and the mail
processing began working as expected.

So, I would suspect your problem to be with SpamAssassin, as was mine.

A couple of people suggested trying out the older SpamAssassin (v 1.5)
which is no longer available on the spamassassin web site.

I haven't tried it out yet, though, so I cannot attest to how it will
work for you..
