Yes, and Yes.  Here is the output of /var/spool/MIMEDefang

drwx------    2 mimedefa root         4096 Aug  9 14:38 MIMEDefang

And, inside /var/spool/MIMEDefang

[root at apple MIMEDefang]# ls -l
total 0
srw-------    1 mimedefa mimedefa        0 Aug  9 14:38 mdefang-mx.sock
srwx------    1 mimedefa mimedefa        0 Aug  9 14:38 mimedefang.pid
