Commit cfde114d45d7228b5b257ac13e070714f699f74f is unnecessary and should
be reverted.  There is no way for handleWorkerStderr to be called with
a NULL value for data.

The commit is bad for another reason: The check on line 1401 makes the check
on line 1449 redundant.

For a similar reason, the check on line 1510 is not needed:
handleWorkerStatusFD can never be called with a NULL value for data.
