[Mimedefang] Perl DBI problem stops mimedefang from loading?

I was hoping someone might have a clue what is going on here.  I can't 
get mimedefang 2.74 to run, it always has a problem with loading DBI.so. 
I've uninstalled DBI, reinstalled it repeatedly including an older 
version, and there is never a problem with the tests after perl 
Makefile.PL; make; make test.  There is plenty of memory too.

Anyone seen this before?

My system:
Linux central 3.10.18 #11 SMP Wed Dec 4 22:07:20 EST 2013 x86_64
