As to the duplicate message, although I got the reply, I also got a
bounce message saying that I did not have permission to send to that
recipient so I did not know whether the rest of the group had seen it:

I have found some mail handling systems do not like the type of
apostrophe that Outlook 2007 puts into a plain text mail and causes all
sorts of problems with MIME filters so I thought that maybe that was
causing a problem again so I sent the mail less any apostrophe;s
