    However you fail to say WHO owns that folder.  If it's owned by say 
root.root, and your mimedefang runs with defang.defang, yeah you'd have

    Read my above comment.  WHO owns that sock?  Who owns the sendmail 
process?  Can they communicate with each other?  Do they have 
permissions in the various locations (folders)?
