I have to ring in on this one too.
I'm still shocked at the number of legitimate businesses running quirky setup scenario setups.
Can't make PTR and A records match cause ISP won't/doesn't know how. (Companies like Texas Instruments!! HELLO!?!)
Can't make server point to an ISP mail relay which would fix up their problem in a sense.
and now the thing you mention.
It's 2008. Can we get with the program people?
