Oops: I didn't remember to look for hidden files.  It just took several 
days before the tmpdir was noticeably fuller than it ought to have been.

Sorry for the bad data point.

Anyway, it seems OK after applying the patch.  Load seems a bit higher, 
but that always varies with the flow of mail.
