Well.. I backed down to the previous install, which was 2.58, to get 
things working again (otherwise I wouldn't have gotten this email).  
Then, I re-installed 2.61 and disabled embedded perl..  After that, 
everything seemed to start flowing again.

The /var filesystem is only 18% used with nearly 26GB of available space.

Embedded perl allows for better performance, right?  So disabling that 
is basically a performance hit.. but how much?  And what other impact 
does disabling embedded perl have?
