In fact, I believe misuse of disclaimers seriously weakens them.  How
can a disclaimer be taken seriously when its obvious to everyone
(including the sender) that the disclaimer is meaningless?

Disclaimers should be reserved ONLY for e-mails that really are
sensitive.  And nobody should be e-mailing sensitive information
without encrypting and signing it first.  I would take a disclaimer
attached to a signed, encrypted e-mail far more seriously than blanket
legalese applied to mailing list postings.
