[Mimedefang] Spamc/spamd vs standard MD

Hi,

I would really like the get the mysql userprefs in SA working. As i
understand the only way to make this work is to use spamc/spamd is this
correct?

If so, what would the cons be of running spamd instead of using the
$Features{"SpamAssassin"} in MD or and might there be any pros ??
