[Mimedefang] RHEL4 milter problem

I'm preparing to switch my mail filtering cluster from RHEL3 to RHEL4. 
I'm testing mimedefang on a single node. When I add the node to the 
cluster, mimedefang starts to process mail apparently w/o problems. 
However, messages like

	Jul 31 12:47:09 xxx mimedefang[3410]: MIMEDefang-2.56: st_optionneg[-1214751824]: 0x1f does not fulfill action requirements 0x3f

appear in /var/log/maillog.

This looks like mimedefang and the local sendmail (8.13.1) having problems 
negotiating options. The messages to not appear on the RHEL3 nodes which run 
8.12.11. 

Could there be a compatibility issue between mimedefang and sendmail 8.13?
