Well, I think you are missing that these zombie computer networks are being 
used as spambots that are controlled by a central source.  While the 
addresses might look weird, a good amount of them will get stopped by the 4 
methods I mentioned.
Perhaps just count it as a highly ineffective dictionary attack ;-)
