I block images unless they come from a whitelisted sender.  This lets
me see my family photos without getting junk from spammers.

(Actually, I use CanIt-PRO's "hold" feature to tempfail such mail
until I've had a glance at it, rather than outright reject it; we
still have a few inquiries from people who seem to think it's a good
idea to put wallpapers in their e-mail so their messages look
pretty... sigh...)

If you combine this with auto-whitelisting of people you send mail
to (as we do), it works quite well.
