mimedefang errors (was Re: [Mimedefang] spamassassin error messages)

Lisa,

If you MIMEdefang spool directory is only readable by "defang", and your
Sendmail system is trying to access the socket file which is in the spool
directory, it's not surprising that your system is having problems.

On my system, I have:

adelie:/var/spool# ls -al
total 504
drwxr-xr-x   12 root     root         4096 Jul 14  2004 .
drwxr-xr-x   20 root     root         4096 Feb 16  2004 ..
drwxrwxr-x    8 defang   defang       8192 May 12 14:21 MD-Quarantine
drwxr-x---  6484 defang   smmsp      450560 May 13 15:49 MIMEDefang

(the size is large because I keep the last 1500-2000 message folders for
debugging and system checks).

The group access on the folder is specifically so that the Sendmail daemon can
open the socket file.  Check which user & group your Sendmail runs as, and then
grant access to this group.
