I second this hypothesis, it happens here.
I have the case too, of course, every time NAI shoots its foot
with emergency updates, which means any old time.

I would check too that you have the last engine (guess 4.4.40) for I
had real trouble some time ago with new signatures aggregation only
compatible with last engine.

Well, good luck with asking something not commershil to NAI,
for answers on technical issues they are as active as a dead bat.
