the solution is to use SRS (sender rewrite) which, unfortunately, is
broken for postfix 2.2 (or whatever the latest version is); this leaves
a major mta out of the loop on this one. For SPF to be a truly workable
solution, all aspects really need to be in place. On the other hand this
refers to the libsrs2 project ... if anyone knows of any similar
projects that may work (postfix,sendmail) in lieu of libsrs I would be
interested in hearing about them.
