Freebsd port version of MD USED to do this behavior because of the way the
init script was setup.  Especially if you called
'/usr/local/etc/rc.d/mimedefang.sh restart' it would restart, but sendmail
would grip about that.  It ended up for me being a matter of sleeping for 5
secs before restarting to give mimedefang time to clean up.
