I started the process of upgrading and ran into a few problems. First,
all the directions for SpamAssassin assume you want to upgrade to the
newest version and recommend using CPAN. But I can't figure out how to
upgrade to 2.64 rather than 3.0 using CPAN. Anyone else know?

I tried installing SpamAssassin 2.64 from the .tar.gz, and "perl
MAKEFILE.PL" fails since it claims not to be able to find pod2man on my
path but pod2man is definitely in /usr/bin. Strange. So I tried
installing SA 2.64 from the .rpm and it spits out some warnings about
missing a user called felicity and a group called fame and then does
nothing. Equally strange. Searching Google groups for these errors
doesn't yield any help.

So, trying to figure out something else productive I can do while I work
on the above problems, I then update all the required MIMEDefang Perl
modules using CPAN which works ok except some of the names on the
MIMEDefang download page don't appear to be the current/correct names so
that takes some figuring out, and CPAN installs a slightly older version
of IO:stringy. But I think this went OK.

I then tried compiling MIMEDefang and run ./configure and it runs into
an error with MIME::WordDecoder and tells me to make sure the Perl
modules I installed above are the latest versions. I check CPAN again
and it says everything is up to date.

So I guess I'm stuck right now. Anyone have ideas? As you probably can
tell, I don't do this every day.

Thanks,
-Joel
