Sorry for the late-ish reply.

Indeed, in 60_whitelist.cf there is an entry @*.mypoints.com . And although the recipient didn't recall having signed up for anything on that web site, they did have a user account.

So, sorry for the red herring but I learned stuff so it wasn't all in vain.
