It depends on the situation.  However, it seems that Microsoft's
"mega patch" has problems of its own -- people on Bugtraq have reported
no end of problems after applying it.

What if Ford's recall results in the car's range being limited to 20
kilometres before refueling (12.5 miles for Americans. :-)) so that
customers may reasonably decide not to go for the recall because of
the side effects?
