There is actually no such thing as an attachment.  That's a convenient
label for users.  But really there are just parts.

I think you might be saying that the messages have two parts, both
type text/plain and both containing the same text.  Look and see if
that is what is really there.  I am not so sure.

Your sample was a little strange.  It says in the main header...

Content-Type: multipart/mixed; boundary="----------=_1079446477-2144-42"

...but it actually only had one part, which was text/plain.  Whenever
data is out of standard like this, you can get undefined results, like
a message looking different when seen with different mail programs.

Your messages to the list have a second text/plain part that contains
nothing but the Mimedefang list footer.  Messages sent by other people
do not have the footer in a separate part.  This again might be a
reaction to the incorrect "multipart" content-type.

What software is creating these messages?  It doesn't put its name
in the headers.  It appears to be the problem.
