found this looking for what I had done originally. 

I seem to recall doing this after I had initially chmod 700
/var/spool/MIMEDefang and chown mailnull:wheel /var/spool/MIMEDefang.  
The mounting it it would assume the permissions.  Perhaps I forced another
permission update on /var/spool/MIMEDefang after mounting.
