If you give someone a machine with software on it, that counts as
distribution.

If you are careful, you can probably keep your proprietary code separate,
and distribute source code for the open-source bits under the
appropriate licenses.  However, you have to be very careful that your
proprietary code does not constitute a "derivative work" of GPL'd software;
otherwise, you are obliged to distribute your proprietary code under
the GPL.
