[Mimedefang] slaves dying unexpectedly

Did you try

  /path/to/mimedefang/mimedefang.pl -f mimedefang-filter -test

as in

  cd /etc/mail
  /usr/local/bin/mimedefang.pl -f mimedefang-filter -test

if you have the standard default setup. This will at least show if
there are syntax errors in your filter.
