Sorry to followup to my own post here, but I wanted to say two additional
things:

(1) Sorry for the line breaks in the code, hopefully it's legible enough
that you can tell what I'm trying to do.
(2) I forgot that you also need "use Socket;" to get access to
"inet_aton"...
