We are running Sendmail/MD on two AS servers on a xiotech san. Installed
our own version of sendmail since i didn't want to rely on redhat for
sendmail support. We bought it for the cluster/HA tools, not for support.

Be sure to update to RH's newest kernel errata. We had major problems
with the stock AS kernel not reclaiming memory, kswapd going crazy,
crashing every other day, etc. Seemed to only affect high-end IBM and
Compaq boxes under heavy load, but never confirmed this. I tried every
kernel out there, eventually found the RH9 kernel to be the most stable.
Redhat eventually fixed most of the kernel problems (8 months later), but
the RH9 kernel is still more stable.
Unless you really need the HA, support, extended lifecycle, or kernel
"enhancements", i would just stick with RH9.
