[Mimedefang] timeout issue

Hi all, im experimenting with mimedefang and noticed something weird.
My mimedefang-filter is very simple. Only filter_end is defined and
all it does it SpamAssassin checking from the original example.
It's doing localchecksonly and no bayes. 

What I see once every few emails, after filter_end removes the
X-Spam-Score header is this:

Amavis does virus scanning..

MD has gone through filter_end and removed the header..

30!! seconds later the email is finally delivered. Somehow between
sendmail<->MD the mail gets stuck waiting for some timeout. I also often
see smaller values than 30 seconds. 

Im assuming that after filter_end MD is done and is returning an ACCEPT
to sendmail. Still, after filter_end emails hang around for anything from
1 to 30 seconds,

Anyone have any idea what this could be? This is sendmail 8.12.10
