[Mimedefang] can not chdir to /var/spool/mqueue, goddammit!

Hi all.

No matter what I try, I can't get either mimedefang or php to use 
sendmail. Mimedefang gives:

Oct 14 11:48:43 [mimedefang-multiplexor] Slave 5 stderr: can not 
chdir(/var/spool/mqueue/): Permission denied
Oct 14 11:48:43 [sendmail] NOQUEUE: SYSERR(defang): can not 
chdir(/var/spool/mqueue/): Permission denied
Oct 14 11:48:43 [mimedefang-multiplexor] Slave 5 stderr: Program mode 
requires special privileges, e.g., root or TrustedUser.

whenever a virus is found.

I've tried adding the defang user to /etc/mail/trusted-users. I've tried 
a whole host of other things too, ranging from changing the permission 
on /var/spool/mqueue to running mimedefang as root.

Does someone know how to fix it ( and maybe php, which gives the same 
error )?
