While this would definitely work, I think it would increase my administrivia
a good bit.  Plus I think this is something other people will want so doing
the perl code for MD is a worthwhile "recipe" for others.  I'm hoping the
pseudo code I just posted will pan out under scrutiny and I'll try and take
it into reality tomorrow if so.
