Ever since I've upgraded to SA 2.60 and MD 2.37 I've been getting a lot of
the following error messages in my logs and the milter is tempfailing.
Oct 8 18:02:26 uchuu mimedefang-multiplexor: Slave 2 stderr: Cannot open
bayes databases /etc/mail/spamassassin/bayes_* R/W: lock failed: File exists
I have a lot of lingering bayes.lock.<hostname>.<number> files in my
/etc/mail/spamassassin directory as well.
I had experienced this problem previously with SA 2.53 and MD 2.35 but not
nearly as frequently. I have a cronjob running as the defang user to run
sa-learn --rebuild once every 4 hours which seemed to fix this problem
previously.
I've increased the frequency of the cronjob to once every 30 minutes but am
still seeing quite a lot of these errors still.
I do have autolearn turned on, but i'm pretty sure that i haven't seen a
great increase in the incoming traffic since prior to the upgrades.
i have the MIMEDefang spool running on a tmpfs
actually, i just noticed that i'm getting busy timeouts unrelated to the
above problem with the bayes database.
here's what top says about my system:
6:10pm up 222 days, 3:45, 1 user, load average: 0.34, 0.32, 0.2260
processes: 58 sleeping, 2 running, 0 zombie, 0 stopped
CPU states: 0.0% user, 0.5% system, 0.0% nice, 99.4% idle
Mem: 385164K av, 331732K used, 53432K free, 0K shrd, 7776K

Swap: 522104K av, 24340K used, 497764K free 246436K

any ideas/suggestions/etc?
thanks
alan
