[Mimedefang] MXCommand error

Hello,

I'm new to the list, please have patience. Hopefully this is a common
error I'm having...

I am using a freshly installed Mandrake 9.2 system with latest sendmail,
MIMEDefand, File::Scan, and SpamAssassin. At least that's the setup I'm
going for.

MIMEDefang is run by adding:

rm -f /var/spool/MIMEDefang/mimedefang.sock
/usr/local/bin/mimedefang -U defang -m
/var/spool/MIMEDefang/mimedefang.sock &

to the /etc/rc.d/init.d/sendmail start() script.

But my server does not seem to be accepting mail for delivery. Looking
in the log /var/log/mail/errors I see lines like:

Nov 21 16:24:18 mail mimedefang[2656]: MXCommand: connect: No such file
or directory: Is multiplexor running?
Nov 21 16:24:51 mail last message repeated xx times
...
Nov 21 16:26:49 mail mimedefang[2656]: MIMEDefang-2.38: missing
connection information

I am not using the multiplexor (that I am aware of). I don't know what
the connection information that the error refers to is. Can anyone offer
any help?
