[Mimedefang] Getting $Subject from emails....

I am trying to write the subject of emails out to a database. 

In several places (filter_end, filter_begin) I try to write out the
scalar $Subject.

Sometimes that works, and I get the actual subject of the email. But
sometimes $Subject returns /var/spool/MIMEDefang/mdefang-hACJVqF4002529

Whats going on here?
