[Mimedefang] sendmail socket unsafe

I struggled with this all night. I am not exactly sure how I fixed it because I was trying many things, but I did realize that the real problem is not that the socket is unsafe, it is that the socket is not there. When I got it working, I was messing around with the init file and enabled stats. I also had created the directory under /var/log/mimedefang.
After I restarted sendmail, the socket showed up and mail is processing.

I am new to mimedefang. I am using Redhat9 with
sendmail-8.12.8-5.90.i386.rpm.
I keep getting erros such as local socket name
/var/spool/MIMEDefang/mimedefang.sock unsafe as shown in my logs below.
My permissions are as follows:
