[Mimedefang] mimedefang lockup - help needed

Greetings,

I could use some help on a new MIMEDefang installation. Setup is 
Mandrake Linux 8.2,
sendmail 8.12.8, MIMEDefang 2.33, SpamAssassin 2.54 and RAVAntivirus. 
I've used
MIMEDefang and SpamAssassin in the past, but this has me baffled.

The symptoms are: everything appears to be working fine, mail is being 
scanned and
discarded or accepted for delivery. Then after a period of time - 
anywhere from 10 minutes
to an hour - mimedefang doesn't startup any new scans, sendmail 
processes start stacking
up until the max limit (currently 50), incoming mail starts temp 
failing, etc.

I'm using mimedefang-multiplexor with max slaves set to 12 (which it 
never reaches).
I enabled multiplexor stats and slave logging, but the additional 
information wasn't much
help (to me, at least). I've been looking at this for a few days now and 
am running out
of ideas of what to look for. Any clues or helpful hints would be 
appreciated.
