[Mimedefang] Mimedefang daemons won't stop

I had this same problem when I first installed MIMEDefang 2.30. I used the
init script that was in the 2.30 src tarball in the file
examples/init-script, and I would have the same problem you describe with 3
processes always left over that had to be killed manually.
When I upgraded to MIMEDefang 2.31, I replaced the init script with the one
that is in redhat/mimedefang-init instead of examples/init-script. When I
did this, it fixed the problem with the left-over processes. I didn't have
the time to bother to look into it and see what was wrong with the initial
script. Since the new script was working I didn't worry too much about it.
:)
Hopefully this will help you...

Subject: [Mimedefang] Mimedefang daemons won't stop
We're running Mimedefang 2.31 on a RedHat Linux 8.0 server, and we
have a problem which may or may not be specific to RedHat:
When I start Mimedefang using the supplied init-script the following
processes are started:
defang 20101 0.0 0.1 1612 720 ? S 09:50 0:00
[mimedefang-mult]
defang 20103 13.2 2.7 18368 13876 ? S 09:50 0:00
/usr/bin/perl -w
/usr/local/bin/mimedefang.pl -server
defang 20114 0.0 0.1 4000 804 ? S 09:50 0:00 [mimedefang]
defang 20115 0.0 0.1 4000 804 ? S 09:50 0:00 [mimedefang]
defang 20116 0.0 0.1 4000 804 ? S 09:50 0:00 [mimedefang]
defang 20117 32.5 2.7 18372 13880 ? S 09:50 0:00
/usr/bin/perl -w
/usr/local/bin/mimedefang.pl -server
When I want to stop the Mimedefang daemons using the init-script,
/etc/rc.d/init.d/mimedefang stop
the following processes unfortunately remain:
defang 20114 0.0 0.1 4000 804 ? S 09:50 0:00 [mimedefang]
defang 20115 0.0 0.1 4000 804 ? S 09:50 0:00 [mimedefang]
defang 20116 0.0 0.1 4000 804 ? S 09:50 0:00 [mimedefang]
I can't figure out why these processes weren't stopped by the
init-script, and it seems that I must kill these processes by hand.
Question: Is there a fix the the init-script which will reliably
stop the Mimedefang daemons ?
I need to be able to control reliably the Sendmail and Mimedefang daemons
before I feel comfortable about deploying this new mail-server, so your
help will be much appreciated.
