[Mimedefang] SpamAssassin 2.55 will not scan

Using the default code in the mimedefang-filter stored
in /etc/mail, I cannot get SpamAssassin to start
scanning emails. The return code is always "zero"
hits. In looking at the mimedefang.pl code I noticed
the eval statement and changed it so that the
Spamassassin code was always one and then declared the
use of the object. This resulted in a normal startup
of Mimedefang, but still it is not scanning emails.
The system is RedHat 7.2, Perl 5.6.0 and Mimedefang
2.33 with all pre-requisite Perl modules. It is almost
like Spamassassin is not on the system because the
eval test nevers returns one, yet I know that
SpamAssassin is installed. All of the tests for
SpamAssassin work normally (except Razor).
