Would it be possible to expose the Sendmail macros earlier in the filtering
process?

I could really use access to $SendmailMacros{"auth_authen"} in
filter_recipient. Without that, I can't tell if SMTP AUTH was used (which
for our setup allows someone to relay through our server without using a
local IP). Right now, I have to wait until filter_begin to do the relay
checks and that means I have to accept the whole message.

I know this was asked before
(http://lists.roaringpenguin.com/pipermail/mimedefang/2002-December/003939.h
tml). David, your response was "No particular reason, other than
efficiency." Over time, I doubt its more efficient to accept all the mail
data and then reject a message than to just spend the CPU time making the
macros available in filter_recipient.
