These attachments are not in the 'bad filenames' list. They are things like
.doc, .pdf, etc.

What type of attachments? Any file extensions from this list?
'(ade|adp|app|asd|asf|asx|bas|bat|chm|cmd|com|cpl|crt|dll|exe|fxp|hlp|hta|ht
o|inf|ini|ins|isp|jse?|lib|lnk|mdb|mde|msc|msi|msp|mst|ocx|pcd|pif|prg|r
o|inf|ini|ins|isp|eg|s
cr|sct|sh|shb|shs|sys|url|vb|vbe|vbs|vcs|vxd|wmd|wms|wmz|wsc|wsf|wsh|\{)
cr|sct|sh|shb|shs|sys|url|vb|vbe|vbs|vcs|vxd|wmd|wms|wmz|wsc|wsf|wsh|';
So this is no bug, it's one feature of mimedefang which is defined in
mimedefang-filter. Check your policy and your users demands. I suspect your
email users are getting/sending emails with .exe attachments or stuff like
this.

These mails have a part where the email user is informed that a bad
attachment is cut off from the mail?
