Thanks for all the advice. I will certainly attempt to compile and
install 8.12.9 from source. My main concern is db4 requirement. I've
looked at the spec file from the redhat sendmail-8.12.9 SRPM and it
requires the sleepycat db4 package. Installing this breaks my
cyrus-imapd mailboxes, unfortunately. The only workaround I could see
was changing the errata level in the spec file from 100 (for redhat 8)
to 73 (for redhat 73). This route will compile everything against the db
version 3 libraries, but I'm not sure if that's a good thing. Or if it
will work. Any advice? By the way, Rob Siemborski of the cyrus project
uses mimedefang and cyrus-imapd together at Carnegie-Mellon University
and speaks very highly of mimedefang.
